SALVADOR: Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul played the shortest at the World Cup in Brazil, but the player proves he is a hero after he saved two penalties, thus confirming the Netherlands reached the semi-finals.
As the game entered the final minutes of extra time without any network created two teams, Dutch coach Louis van Gaal decided to enter Krul, 26, to replace the goalkeeper, Jasper Cillessen.
Action Louis was considered shrewd, yet proven successful when Krul cushion tidy two penalties from Costa Rican player Bryan Ruiz and Michael Umana, allowing the Dutch win, 4-3 in the specification.
"That's not normal. You sit on the bench the entire game, then put to save a penalty kick. I do not know what I can say.
"It's a dream and unbelievable," said Krul is now playing for English club Newcastle. - Agencies.
